Luskville Falls Trail

Challenging. The trail gains approximately 290 metres of elevation over 2 km to the summit, with steep rocky sections and exposed Precambrian Shield terrain. Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support are strongly recommended. The trail is not suitable for young children, strollers, or those with mobility limitations.

Late April through mid-May, when spring snowmelt feeds the cascade. By mid-summer, the falls slow to a trickle in dry years. The trail and summit views are rewarding year-round regardless of waterfall conditions.

Sturdy hiking boots, at least 1 litre of water per person, sunscreen, and snacks for the summit. In spring and autumn, bring a wind layer — the exposed summit is significantly cooler than the base. There are no washroom facilities or water sources along the trail.

Yes. A gravel parking lot is located at the trailhead off Chemin de l’Hôtel de Ville in Luskville. The lot fills by mid-morning on autumn weekends during peak foliage season. Arrive before 9 AM on weekends from late September through mid-October.

Luskville Falls Trail is approximately 45 km from Ottawa International Airport (YOW). From Adam’s Airport Inn (7 minutes from the terminal), drive north across the Ottawa River into Gatineau, then west along Highway 148 toward Luskville — about 40 minutes. The trailhead is well signed from the highway.
